Sketching in the Wild /
Not many people know this but twenty+ years ago I spent a couple summers sitting out on the sidewalk, doing portraits for money in Detroit’s Greektown. Back then I was in art school with dreams of getting my paintings into museum collections, so while drawing this self-portrait in the museum’s Art Lab while waiting to meet some friends, I couldn’t help but reflect on my journey from then to now.
“Skilled Labor: Black Realism in Detroit” /
I am honored and excited to announce that my painting, “You Don’t Know the Half” was purchased by the Cranbrook Art Museum and will be included in this groundbreaking exhibition featuring Black artists in Detroit who work in realism.
“In Their Natural Habitat” /
I am excited to unveil three new paintings in this group exhibition featuring the artists of 333 Midland. The opening reception for this exhibit will take place Saturday, October 14, 2023 and there will be a closing party on October 28!
MOVEMENT /
I made a painting based on my “Detroit is for Art Lovers” sketch for the upcoming group exhibit “Movement”. The show opens June 8 at the General Motors Design Center Gallery and features artists from the Cadillac Design studio, where I work as an automotive clay sculptor.
